The way we apply to jobs is broken.
Why does job searching have to be so painful and time consuming? Why is the user experience so poor and inconsistent?
Think about your last job search. How many companies did you apply to? How long did it take to get through the different portals that you had to use to apply?
How frustrating was it to hit that “autofill” button that’s supposed to fill in your information, but it never fills it out quite right?
How much time did you spend filling out the same information over and over? It is incredibly inefficient, especially considering that low success rate of cold applications.
When I was applying to jobs last year, I would immediately close the tab if I saw a 12 page Workday form. That is always an awful experience. The companies that use that system clearly don’t prioritize the job applicant’s time or user experience.
It’s clear that job searching is nearly a full-time job on its own given the time required. For example, in addition to continually applying to jobs, a candidate typically also has to spend time preparing for phone interviews, technical interviews, cultural fit interviews, on-site interviews, and job offers (and relative negotiations).
It is incredibly difficult to focus on all of these things when candidates have a full-time job and/or a family.
So then… How Do We Fix This?
For me, it starts with automating the job application process. That’s why I created ai appli.
I want people to spend less time filling out the same information for hours on end and more time doing more productive things… like learning about the companies they may join, studying for their technical interviews, interviewing, or even researching for their upcoming negotiations.
